The power of good organizational culture

Updated: May 6, 2022

The foundation

When I think about the culture of success for an organization I instantly think of Bill Belichick and the “Patriot Way.” During a span of over 20 years, the Patriots were one of the most successful teams in NFL history, due in large part to their culture. How they prepared on and off the field, the professionalism, high level of expectations and ability to execute. If you are a part of an organization that has sustained winning over an extended period of time, then you can certainly credit the atmosphere for which these results are being produced.

A good culture is one that clearly defines expectations while providing preparation and support for team members to meet the established goals and objectives that lead the organization to be outstanding. Communication, development and encouragement combined with a challenging environment that is built to bring out the very best in your people are cornerstones to the foundational fabric of a successful culture.

The Investment in people

Working with your team to nurture their knowledge base while utilizing their natural inherent gifts is a tremendous path that leads toward innovation. Steve Jobs once said, “It doesn't make sense to hire smart people and tell them what to do.” Having a culture that teaches a certain code of execution while promoting the self-actualization of the individual are powerful components that will draw the very best and brightest to your organization.

Some organizations have taken a position of fear for properly supporting and equipping the people for which they employ for next level success. There is often this unspoken worry of nurturing a top tier talent only to watch it one day depart when the price has become too steep. But I believe this is where the proven deliverance of a championship culture arises to shine and lead at the forefront. When properly built, this system will have invested value into all those under the company umbrella, producing a continuity of executional success with a stockpile of individuals ready and capable of carrying forward this foundation of winning on major levels.

Sustain your dynasty

Establishing an environment that promotes growth and prosperity for the company and employees alike, is the joining together of a beautiful vision that positions itself to be extremely fruitful in the now and for the future. Having a high level of organizational expectations with a detailed roadmap filled with an investment in people, processes and ideas is the pathway of champions. Cultivating the very best of your employees is opportune. Developing an extreme dynamic of empowerment with a blazing intrapreneurial spirit of ownership is powerful for growth, retention, recruitment, long-term development and organizational sustainability.
